Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and NGO “Lviv Educational Initiative” are pleased to announce the 19thAnnual American Studies Institute, organized in cooperation and supported by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.
As the product of complex historical processes, the elections in the United States significantly differ from other countries, including Ukraine. Therefore, the key goal of the 19thAmerican Studies Institute is to fill a gap in the knowledge of Ukrainian academics on the elections in the United States and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of their core aspects, including multiple levels of regulation, campaign finance, voter registration, primaries, election campaign.
The American Studies Institute is an intensive program of lectures, seminars, discussions, and simulations / role-playing activities that provide participants an opportunity to spend several days deeply immersed in American Studies.
The working language of the program will be English.We encourage Ukrainian academics interested in American Studies to apply.
- Professors and university lecturers who are either already teaching or currently developing American Studies courses at their home institutions;
- Researchers and scholars, PhD students of law, public policy, history, sociology, international relations, American studies or related fields;
- NGO leaders and journalists with experience or a strong, demonstrated interest in the topic;
- English language fluency.

Reimbursement: The organizers will cover the cost of tuition, meals, accommodation and transportation for the participants coming from outside of Lviv.
Application deadline: April 20, 2019.
Extended till April 25, 2019. Selected applicants will be notified by April 27, 2019.
